Cinnamon Sugar Salsa for Kids
I suggest making a bowl of this and then putting out some spicy add ins for grown ups, if they want them. You can chop up some fresh chili or cayenne peppers, grate some extra ginger, chop some extra fresh garlic and even add some chipotle spice. My husband is an Arizona native and thinks anything that doesn’t have serrano pepper in it is just a little too much on the gringo side. Bell peppers are more my speed but after living with and cooking for him for over a decade, I’m finally developing a slightly tougher skin when it comes to spicy. That’s not reflected in this recipe, however, which is meant to be mild for the kiddos.
Don’t feel obligated to follow this recipe exactly – its salsa and salsa is meant to be a very fluid concept. Let me know if you make improvements – especially with the spices. I’m getting so excited for spice as autumn approaches. Don’t get me wrong, I’ll miss my tomatoes but I do love cinnamon in the air.
