Health Grains

I have a love-hate relationship with grains and have learned over many years of research and experimentation what constitutes a healthy grain for my body and my family.  Perhaps the articles listed here under “Healthy Grains” will help you and your family, too.

Specifically, “Healthy Grains” at Homestead Lady will be whole grains, ancient grains being superb, that have been soaked, sprouted and/or fermented with sourdough cultures.

In general, the recipes at Homestead Lady never include ingredients like corn syrup or other processed sugars, margarine, highly processed grains or synthetic dyes.  Instead, we will help you craft a healthy kitchen based on whole foods principles:

  • whole, properly processed grains – including fermentation like sourdough – though gluten free foods are always clearly indicated as such
  • real, quality fats like animal lards, whole milk butters and rich oils
  • a variety of vegetables and fruits
  • alternatives diets like Paleo, Keto, gluten-free and others
